Meissen offers many sights with the Albrechtsburg and Meissen Cathedral, the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory & Museum, the city museum and much more.
All stores for daily needs as well as various restaurants are within walking distance.
The staircase to Albrechtsburg Castle and the cathedral, many wine taverns and Burgstraße - the city's shopping and pub mile - are just around the corner. The world-famous porcelain factory is a ten-minute walk through the historic old town.
The state capital of Dresden with its cultural treasures is around 20 km away. The local transport network is well developed.
There are also many leisure activities for families in and around Meißen (e.g. Wellenspiel leisure pool, zoo).
The wine-growing region of Saxony along the Elbe Valley between Dresden and Meißen is one of the smallest and easternmost wine-growing regions in Germany. It is ideal for walks or bike rides with a stop at a cozy wine tavern.
